Tired of those filtered snaps? Want to own a vibe that throws an “it’s natural” statement? Yes, you get it right! I am pointing towards the impact of different volumes of lip fillers before and after administration. Let’s find out how to achieve a picture-perfect pout with the right volume of a filler!

So, have you finally made your mind to treat your lips with the filling procedure? But first, take a brief intro of what these lip fillers exactly are:

Lip or dermal fillers are injections filled with natural substances such as Hyaluronic acid and collagen administered dermally intending your lips to appear bulgy and a bit more prominent than before.

Do not mingle the term with “Botox” as the purpose of this procedure is the same but not the mechanism. Lip filling is a minimally invasive method leaving your lips temporarily tendered and swelled immediately after the invasion. However, there are guidelines to follow in order to prevent the formation of bruises prior to subjecting your lips to the filling treatment:

· Avoid blood thinners and NSAIDs

· Stop using any anti-aging chemicals on your skin such as vitamin A derivatives, glycolic acid, etc.

· Do not tweeze, wax or bleach

· Usage of Arnica might reduce bruising

· No alcohol near the procedure

Now let’s jump straight into what sort of lip fillers you should prefer according to what suits you best, with their before and afters.

1. No Needle Lip Fillers — Do They Really Help?

Have you ever heard of those Hyaluronic acid pressure pens? We guess you have. Although these are safe causing no bruising, pain-free augmentation, only cause a little pinning sensation; we still do not recommend such a costly procedure which lasts only for only 3 to 7 months on average. The needleless filling is a superficial invasion method which allows insertion of air pressure under the skin to facilitate the delivery of biodegradable constituent i.e. Hyaluronic acid. Also, it is less effective than the traditional fillers which give more pop up.

The drawback is that the delivery must be at a specific place in the papillary layer of skin in order to receive visible results. Nor there are any outstanding results seen comparatively, as they give a very little plump and are non-sustainable. Producing only superficial effects, their after-effects are only suitable to vanish wrinkles near lip line as they do not plump them as needle fillers do. Also, these are good for people who want a subtle natural enhancement of features.

These filters were originally created for diabetics as the only plus is a painless procedure and no harmful after-effects. However, the needle lip fillers are only superficially and temporarily harmful.

2. Don’t Freak Out If You Can’t See It Coming

Being specific here, there are swelling stage freak-outs associated with people as they see those pop-ups coming. They think their desire of getting the perfect fill is gone with money because they relate lip fillers before and after swelling with ultimate results. We suggest sit back relax if it happens to you! Lip filling procedures are accompanied by swelling stages and there exists a right time to show the magic. Swelling and bruising may cloud the actual results and can make you think that you’ve invited a disaster but no, think of it just like the butterfly wings are getting ready to get unfold after metamorphosis.

Aestheticians use lidocaine as a local anesthetic prior to filling the lips. However, redness and edema are common after lip filling procedures and are related to recovery as well. It’s just your body’s response to the allergen and also depends upon the volume of the filler used. Nevertheless, the ultimate effect is visible as soon as the immediate effect wears off. It usually takes about a week or two to completely subside the effect. Icing helps a lot which is normally indicated continuously for 6 hours after the procedure with the interval of 10 minutes.

Caution: Do not administer NSAIDs or blood thinners in order to reduce swelling. They have a tendency to worsen the bruises. Go for arnica (wolf’s bane) instead.

3. Do You Need A Lip-Balance?

A minute amount of fillers are used for hydration purposes and to balance if one lip is smaller than the other. 0.05ml is good for one lip modification but if used in divided doses, it may not produce the desired effects as it’s a very minute volume to enlarge the surface. Where it makes only one-fifth of a teaspoon in 1ml, you can imagine the conciseness of 0.05ml.

A bolus dose of 0.05 is given in the corners of lips to reshape them, more often in the first-timers. Gentle massage is given afterward in order to allow streamlined circulation and to assess any lumps of the fluid injected. We suggest you go for lesser or equal to 0.5 figures of volume if you need a hydrating balance or just a precise curve.

4. When The Meniscus Extends Above 0.5

Here comes the correct volume for a perfect plump. 1–2 ml is the standard volume usually used for lip filling, however, people also go with 0.5 ml i.e. half of the 1cc syringe depending upon the size of the plump they want. Lesser volumes are used for little touch-ups whereas enough of 2ml is generally used to generate a yearning pout. This makes 1ml an intermediate and ideal volume to manifest outstanding lip filling before and afterward the results. 0.5 to 1ml is intended to give you a natural look. In some procedures, both volumes are used. Fillings have also been done by using 1.5ml of total filler volume such that 1ml to pressurize and displace, and 0.5ml for stuffing. 1ml is ideal for creating a subtle look administered as 0.5ml in each lip.

In order to achieve a huge difference to stand out, you may need a total volume of 2ml as 0.5 ml will create only small changes. Sometimes even 1ml does not create huge differences the first time. The person may achieve it over time.

5. Beware Of The Disaster

3–4 cc is clearly, a bad idea as this volume is usually regarded as when the filling goes wrong. Your best precautionary measure is your own research before going for the procedure.

Death of the tissue may take place if the fillers are injected above the desired volumes. It is okay to inject 1 to 2ml of filler gradually in two or more sittings. But injecting larger volumes at the same time may result in the death of the localized tissue. Keep in mind that a wrong lip filling which may often result from wrong delivery or greater volume of injection instantaneously; may lead to complications from vascular occlusion to blisters even blindness.

6. Life Of Lip Fillers

The answer to the question of how long your lip fillers are going to last depends upon traits. It varies from person to person but an average estimate is 6 to 12months as they are absorbable by the body. Some studies have also found that they have lasted for as long as 2 years even on MRI scans.

In other circumstances, for whatever reasons you want to undo them, this could be achieved by injecting Hyaluronidase enzyme which is also generated in our body, responsible for degrading Hyaluronic acid. People take their second shot after six months of filling which is the standard interval to take the procedure again if you are happy with your lips.

7. Wondering What’s The Catch?

Here you go! After your first shot, we offer discounts for your next sitting. As mentioned before, the dose should not be exceeded by more than 1ml at once as this may result in adverse effects. It’s better for the standard interval of six months to pass and then go ahead for further fill.

The second filling will adjust the previously administered volume and will be injected keeping in mind that some of the previous volumes would’ve been lost with time.

8. What Does The Market Say?

There are names revolving around the market as successful lip filling brands namely, Teosyal, Vivacy (Stylage), and Juvederm. These brands keep their product filled with plumping agents of varying grades of thickness, maximum up to 10. A thick grade filler of 1ml gives an extra volume and lasts longer, compared with a soft grade of 1ml filler. The drawback of thick graded lip filler is that it produces stiffness and gives unrealistic plasticity to the lips. Your natural lip size and its density define what the right grade and volume of filler should be used on your lips.

Products like Restylane, Juvederm contain 1ml of the filler and last for about six months, whereas Radiesse contains 1.5ml of the filler. Other products like Vollure (more natural and lifted look), Volbella, and Collagen, also come in 1cc syringe and last for 18, 12, and 3 months respectively.

Tips To Remember

Hopefully, this lip filler before and after thin lips guide would’ve been informative for you and would help you make the right decision. Fillers penetrating the soft tissues by means of aesthetic treatments are not unfamiliar nowadays. If you are one of those who adore bulgy lips, don’t rush. Be patient and go for small volumes first and see if it suits you. Then you may gradually take the larger shots in the next few sittings. The client as well as the aesthetician must not forget that detailing, hydration, and rejuvenation are the main focuses that must be achieved. Post care should be considered for the sake of your love with your lovely lips!
